BrainCake.org was a unique online sisterhood for girls ages 11–17, designed to let them “dream in math and science.” Debuting an updated version on February 14th, 2007, the site featured programs, scholarships, virtual mentoring, girl blogs, homework help, research and resources in a framework that integrated pop culture into a virtual notebook for girls interested in STEM careers. Braincake.org was the first online/website winner of the prestigious Roy L. Shafer Award for Excellence given by the Association of Science and Technology Centers. At its height, BrainCake.org received more than 2.1 million hits per year in a non-judgemental environment for girls.
