The Girl Solution was a gender equity toolkit created to assist educators, out-of-school time leaders, mentors, and parents to embolden them with new methods around gender equity in STEM settings. GMSP’s toolkit, themed around a period table that combines 10 years of research-based techniques on what engages girls with authentic and inspiring tools for discovery of STEM careers. After launching in 2007, trainings were widely conducted with educators and toolkits shipped around the world. The Girl Solution leverages girls’ inherent altruism to use science as a tool to change the world. Keeping that point front and center helps girls see the value in scientific knowledge and keeps them engaged in STEM content between the critical 4th and 8th grade years.
